
COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAM
Computer education program was introduced in JNVs from 1991 to impart computer skills to all students to familiarize them with a range of computer applications and information processing and to encourage teachers to use technology in a creative way. Now a days, Information and communication technology is an important catalyst for social transformation and national progress. Therefore knowledge of computer technology is essential to achieve the utmost progress. The computer education program has started in the Navodayas with the following objectives-
- To establish an environment to promote the uses of ICT in Secondary and higher secondary schools in rural areas.
- To enable the maximum opportunity to the widespread use of devices, Internet and hence promote the ICT literacy.
- To enable students and teachers to gain skills demanded for the digital world for tomorrow.
- To provide an effective learning environment for children with special need through ICT tools.
- Facilitate the students to learn computer education on continuous basis from class 6th to 12th.
- Empower the teachers to use computer technology as teaching aids.
- Integrate information technology with classroom transaction.
At present we have computer equipments comprising of 38 computers (Including server), one multimedia LCD projector, One scanner, All in one Samsung printer cum photocopier, V-sat Internet connectivity, Sharp photocopier cum printer, One UPS for modem/ Internet, One UPS for server, Two On line UPS and seven offline UPS (500 VA) One laser Printer, Two Inkjet printer.
Smart class room is also introduced with one color TV 29” under CEP for integrating Information Communication Technology in classroom transaction. As a part of CLASS scheme, our school has assigned the facility of computer literacy to the students of neighboring schools. This is done in the summer vacation. Students from neighborhood schools cover 4 Km diameter, called for computer education.
